hi everyone! got 2tb biggerdisk extreme triple interface used, use on firewire 800 mac. first couple of days had usb 2.0 cable , drive worked fine 2tb of total storage. today got firewire 800 9-pin cable, , tried plug in. first, couldn't understand why device wasn't showing, , in disk utility apparently showed total capacity of 500 gb, , wasn't formatted. tried format it, still 500gb of capacity, , when connecting windows pc on firewire, showed 500gb well. when again tried connect usb, "old" drive 2 tb showed up, , partition table made then. it's if im connecting computer 2 different drives when connecting through firewire or usb. tried update firmware, "lacie update tool os x" think program works old drive, application powerpc only, doesn't work either. i've run out of ideas on - who's had similar issues before, or has more ideas?   ...

i've started using new mac (running yosemite). everything's good, except i'm getting real stability issues using samba shares (linux-based nas or shared folders windows). once in while mounted shares become inaccessible random errors (grayed folders, or error codes don't recall right now), , finder hangs spinning beach ball. trying copy files 1 share another, , finder hung again. after logging out , in again able transfer files, after tried renaming , copying else, finder hung again , couldn't log out (even force closing finder), had hard reset machine. i've never had issues these network shares windows machine. there i'm missing? kind of instability unacceptable. don't think it's hardware problem because else runs splendidly.   Forums Macs macOS macO...

also posted on apple discussion forums... photos exist in icloud photo library missing gps metadata when downloaded computer. have tested couple scenarios... in one, took photo iphone. photo propagated "photos" on other ios devices , "photos" app on icloud.com. on either ios device, in "moments" section of photos app, photo shows proper location noted. when view photo in detail, has proper date , time well. using both apps "exifwiz pro" , "metapho", gps coordinates , location info show no problems. on icloud.com, photo shows proper location in "moments" section. takeaway: gps metadata intact in photo while in "photos" app of ios , icloud.com. when download photo file icloud.com mac (click little cloud down-arrow icon) , run "exiftool" on photo, gps data missing. second test, took 1 of thousands of photos stored on dropbox , imported "p...

so if browse amazon see plenty of lightning cables half or less half cost oem apple cables lot of caution should thrown wind when trying save couple bucks when buying charge cable such expensive phone. luckily techmatte figured out way provide mfi cable matches apple's oem pretty darn close. there cost-cutting measures aren't noticeable point them out. 1) oem cable has soft/bendy cable feels nice plenty of people know cable can break down easy on time. techmatte seems use thicker cheaper feeling cable (think more of plastic coating vs soft coating) 2) oem cable has different ending material, yes both plastic seems different type of plastic. oem feels better imo there nothing wrong techmatte @ all. mean let bother you? remember saving @ least $7. 3) "cheaper" material has beneficial use. who's knows oem cable fraying on ends of cables connected ports because soft plastic breaks down. has been known issue apple long time. tec...
