hi all. have few questions... looking laptop, not interested in spending on $1300. not big fan of design of macbook airs, i'd go macbook pro. being said, i'm torn between baseline mbp without retina, , baseline 13" retina mbp. know 1 has disk drive, other not. 1 has ssd, other not. baseline mbp without retina for? i'm not looking fancy, writing, music, chatting, web browsing. that's it. don't see appeal cheaper macbook pro. technology little outdated, doesn't have retina display. buying machine? can't feel wouldn't enough, honest, be. , save me few hundred bucks. , i'm not real concerned retina display factor. what's gal do? , future baseline mbp (without retina) apple plan on retiring it? upgrading it? has few things seem disappearing in tech world: old hard drive , disk drive. if went out apple store today , bought one, wasting money? should wait new roll out , know come , when? thanks! , sorry if has

i have imac mid 2011 2.7ghz running yosemite. 3 user accts, 1 admin, 2 other kids. have few external hard drives holding photos, movies, music. 1 hard drive ( wd 2tb book studio edition ii quad interface external hard drive) drive asking questions about. have connected via fw800 , drive using fw. drive has power switch still turns on when logs onto imac. (it's not "old school" rocker power switch.. newer type of button) when use imac, have access drive... , allow drive power up, mount, spin , function. when kids come home after school , power imac, not want said drive power up, mount ..... want remain off, dormant. possibility?   if prefer have fw drive available use, unplug when don't need it. unmount (eject) drive, either disconnect data cable, or power connection drive - ever more convenient you.

hi all, since mid 2010 i've been using macbook pro 15"(i5 2.4 ghz, 8gb ram, geforce gt 330m, 256mb vram) all-round notebook. however, never took effort upgrade native osx 10.6.8 snow leopard. i'm 4 versions of osx behind since yosemite release, i'm wondering if should update now. minor upgrades (8 instead of 4 gb ram, 750gb hybrid hdd) it's still running fast , smooth day got it. keep way long possible. horror stories of older models getting slower , slower os updates, i'm bit hesitant upgrade yosemite. recommend upgrade yosemite, or it possible update earlier version of osx if suits model better? why should or should not update snow leopard? thanks!   if performance of macbook should keep on snow leopard. upgrading os bound slow down computer 1 way or new features added , etc. however, based on computer specs doubt there noticeable decrease in performance not up

i have new iphone 6 , turned off drains battery. in morning battery @ 100%, 3 hours later still @ 100% or 99% (just standby). 1 hour later @ 90% or less. not sure if has been discussed already, idea occurred me apple should either license from, or flat out partner with, seiko use kinetic technology. hell, apple flat out buy seiko. unfamiliar, seiko kinetic watches quartz based. however, instead of using normal watch battery convert mechanical movement of watch while on wrist electrical energy. energy stored in battery, watch continues function once taken off. believe it's enough keep watch going while sitting in drawer few months. think apple able find way use technology extend battery life of apple watch. doubt several months given power demands, if enough add half day think big win.   no, there no many energy system , watch consume many more energy.   Forums Apple Watch Apple Watch

with apologies if dumb question, once hd (a lacie tb drive 2 500gb hds) set mirrored raid using disk utility, can use 2 different macs (both running yosemite) or on mac i've used create raid? on top of tm , backblaze, want use critical files time time on both machines , store separately computers located. 500gb enough storage (mainly want preserve photos , docs; else replaceable) both computers, , thought mirrored raid secure. thought encrypting hd, not sure how if i'm using on 2 different computers, unless there's program outside of os x can that. if has recommendation, i'd appreciate that, too. in advance.   you can use raid set on mac running version of os 10 (pretty sure, os since mtn lion). in fact can set mix of drives on different interfaces... long drives of set available, os take care of mounting raid volume you. encryption same story if use disk utility, @ lea

iphone 6 plus installed ios8.1.2 , seeing thin blue rectangle appear on display. manifests in 2 ways: (1) when come out of black locked screen 1 inch wide transparent light blue line top bottom of display starts @ left side , moves right side, similar scan taking place, happens 1 time while screen active, not happen, not happen again during active session until again come out of black locked screen. (2) while screen active displays rectangular block thin blue line (has no blue fill), rectangle surrounds top group of 4 icon groups , starts making way down screen stopping @ each icon group starts again @ top repeat without stopping. depending on screen or app active rectangular box thin blue line displays , makes way , outlining each data input , display position on screen , starts again on same screen repeat without stopping. tried rebooting , hard rebooting no resolution. restored iphone factory configuration ios8.1.2 elected restore last backup , problem
