so upon plugging in external hard drive time machine backup , bunch of other files, wasn't mounting finder @ all. after running through bunch of things in disk utility, did mount finder , can see base of hard drive , no further content in folder , can't transfer either. disk utility @ point, running me through circles tests drive. else can recover data? also, think @ genius bar since stopping apple store in next few days buy new hard drive.   do chance have second mac try drive on? might try (no promise of success): - power mac way off. - disconnect problem drive - restart mac, finder - re-connect drive (does mount on desktop?) - if doesn't mount, wait while (say, 5 minutes). finder try repair drive has difficulty mounting. - happen?   Forums Macs mac

i purchased acer 32" 4k b326hk display macbook pro 2013 (retina, nvidia gt650m, 10.10.1). nice monitor, connected via mini dp or dp 4k mode works in 30hz. display capable of 60hz @ 4k. use display mac hardware? not find or evidence of it. seems may not correctly detected osx. interestingly, display tab of system information reports wrong monitor display physical size , resolution, system report though shows 3840 x 2160 @ 30 hz , there no option 60hz. tried connecting using hdmi, there showed 60hz @ 4k option nothing show on monitor itself. thinking tinkering switchresx , create custom resolution. before "dangerous" game wanted see if has figured out.   you have go monitors menu , enable dp 1.2 able 60hz. edit: i'm not sure if 2013 model able support 4k/60hz. think earliest mbp support late 2013 15".

my friend bought 2010 macbook pro (9,2) , asked me wipe clean her. working fine noticeably slow. proceeded clear pram holding command + option + p + r while booting. mac restarted expected, far good. booted recovery mode holding command + r. opened disk utility , formatted drive. went smoothly, took 30 seconds. went install osx lion (the current os on mpb) , asked me connect wifi. did , estimated 43 minutes until completion. after 15 minutes got error saying unable contents osx lion. @ point wouldn't boot off hdd because had formatted , install of lion failed. reformatted 1 more time , tried install lion again. failed again same message. @ point hdd started fail. rebooted recovery , drive not present in disk utility. rebooted once more , drive had appeared, time , every time since then fail format drive. stuck @ 50% . waited while , did forced shutdown. can damage hard drive? tried on , on again drive formatted no luck. had bootable usb lying aro

so i’ve got ipad 4 gen , iphone 4s both running ios 8.1 , rock solid on wifi. got ipad air 2 , had iphone 6 both lose connection network regularly. spend half time disconnected connected. know documented on net there problems wifi , ios 8.x, there hasn’t been discussion on here lately , know lot of ppl have ipad air 2s. guess i’m going have new router why can’t apple figure out problem? since old devices work on wifi , ios 8.x, it’s hardware problem new network chips in iphone 6 , air 2 , (most?) older routers, or software problem in how ios 8.x talks new chip. seems me there should more discussion on in here if there still lot of people having problems.   does air2 disconnects strong signals? im having problem not strong signals, while mini2 works better these. signal working fine. both air2 , mini2 in ios 8.1.3.   Forums
