i have wireless network using latest airport extreme (me918ll/a) symmetrical 500 mbps internet connection. can >400 mbps on ipad air 2 in adjacent room through wall. i'd extend location ~200 feet away (with 20-30 feet elevation difference), no line of sight, several intervening walls, , many other networks nearby. tried extending airport extreme (fe918ll/a), via 2.4 ghz (5 ghz wasn't visible). clients @ both ends use 5 ghz, hope allows airports connect @ maximum speed via 2.4ghz. using ookla speedtest app on ipad air 2, downloads ~10 mbps (sometimes ~20), , uploads ~5 mbps (sometimes ~10), , pings ~10ms. thought netgear extender (model ex6200) might faster. used fastlane, 2.4 ghz used backhaul, clients connecting @ 5 ghz. however, extender claiming connected @ >100 mbps , green link light, download , upload speeds < 1 mbps, @ best above 1 mbps, , ping times worse, huge variability second second (with many pings timing out). tri

so happens me every day under yosemite. on mba mail open fullscreen app. "unable connect" error (see screenshots attached) turns out mail forgets ssl imap port parameters of account (it's third party account, not icloud or gmail). when go account preferences, see "use ssl" unticked , port standard non ssl port. put parameters , goes normal, yosemite gets emails... until next time see error again , have enter parameters again. know not account problem because use mail on imac under mavericks same way (always open, same ssl, port parameters...) , never saw error. filed bug report feedback assistant. have latest public beta of yosemite else?   attached files: screen shot 2014-10-09 @ 09.41.06.png file size: 59 kb views: 16

hi all, first of all, sorry if bit of "repeat" thread. please bare me. have late 2013 rmbp 750m graphics , i'm looking @ getting 4k monitor can use laptop in desktop mode. basically, don't want "downgrade" in screen quality i've been looking @ affordable 4k options. i'm pull trigger on samsung 28" u28d590d need clear things. 1: macbook able play 4k monitor? 2: cable use connect macbook external display 4k? (if possible) thunderbolt display port or use hdmi cable? on imac have itunes, library, , in there have loads of apps iphone , ipad. in fact take 25gb i've checked. have numerous iphones , ipads in household, sync itunes music, , wirelessly anyway. music have after such. apps though held on apple servers, e.g. when icloud restore, on iphone/ipad "markers" , redownload, otherwise icloud backups huge. apps held on apple's side, , i'm happy this. why need store 25gb+ on imac, wasting hdd space, , more crucially more cloud (non apple livedrive/crashplan type) backup space subscribe getting used this. need regularly update apps on imac, no reason either , update on individual iphones/ipads anyway. can tell me why needed (apart plunging in sync maybe), why have them on imac etc.   itunes has stored apps on hard drive long remember (as long had options sync apps computer enabled)...
