Unable to Reformat

hi... purchased new mini arrived earlier week. used migration assistant move previous mac. data looked good, unable internet. access both ethernet , wifi, diagnostics showed couldn't internet or server. spent several hours apple support in 2 sessions, neither of support reps seemed knew networking. second rep suggested reformat drive , start scratch. after day of trying think of issue resolved, decided try reformatting. when tried run disk erase, got error message "disk erase failed error: not valid core storage logical volume uuid."

there 4 different format options selectable. tried 4 , got same error message each time. don't know if matters, did encrypt drive using filevault.

ideas?

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
