Buying Advice for running Camtasia Studio/PPT

hello all,
have been searching forums weeks without luck. hear current owners.

purchase i5 rmbp replace win7 i7/8gb desktop , i5/8gb laptop. still have programs requiring windows need either vmware or parallels. bootcamp guess option prefer not have reboot.

question on ram & ssd: intense use case running camtasia studio (just purchased) , powerpoint record , edit in virtual machine. running quicken not of resource hog.

8gb/256ssd enough or should max out @ 16gb/512ssd?

if i'm not mistaken 15" rmbps come 16gb of ram apple. choose. if need run windows programs on top of os x you'll need memory. can run virtual box if want have full fledge windows machine running without having reboot.

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
