Areca 5040 problems

hi,

2009 mac pro.

needed raid backups, speed not essential
opted areca 5040 esata.

can work fine when doing independent raids,
if try build volume array, goes *****.

volumes come & go, it's nightmare.

i'm using 2 sata/usb pci controlers , areca telling
me :

"sata(ch0):drv#0~7 esata port
drv#8~15 usb3.0/1394 port
port multiplier supported host sata port needed to
recognize drv#1~7 , drv#9~15

usb :usbia(ch1) drv#0~7 lun#0~7 (must start 0)
iscsi/aoe : usbia drv#8~15 targnode#8~15"

solve great.

tks
