ML Server - OD not reachable anymore

hey folks,

little confused couple of days, because 1 day toanother not able connect opendirectory master (os x 10.8.5 server 2.2.5) clientmachine (os x 10.8.5) local network account(s).

have no idea might have caused problem, since think did not change essential configurations.
dns seems work fine (changeip -checkhostname says nothing change).
have tryed various changes od-service, not find working solution. when want bind od on client, error 2100 - not connect directory server (might differ little, due translation german). curious thing is, on server machine can bind od-master (like binding - through local ip , hostname).

hint recogniced far opendirectory/ldap-protocoll, gives me following lines:

i have no clue, means. of maybe?

appreciate if have ideas on how fix problem or have on....

found issue! changeip -checkhostname on client seemed messed up. repaired using instructions given changeip , works again!

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
