Determine safety of apps

hi - long time windows power user, new mac user, there several things i'm adjusting to.

i'm concerned security, , have question regarding .app files. after reading mac virus , security faqs , posts on site, mention ask unknown .app files. question is, windows trust little nothing internet - mac assume same true. app files i've ran sources other apple or microsoft directly f.lux , openttd - of assume both safe have reputation (advise if wrong here, going windows experience)?

level of paranoia valid - running above 2 apps safe, or best obtain 100% of software through apple app store? checking through searches above software shows many users running them on osx, inclined think wouldn't have malicious code in them, there better way other guessing? windows has many software tools assist in search , detection of malware (and yes know far 100% reliable).

in order of safety first say:

  • mac app store (mas) apps
  • non-mas apps publishers publish other apps on mas
  • apps pay , publisher history and/or references macrumours
  • free apps (other mas free apps)
  • copies of legit apps known dubious sources (i.e. use own installers have been known install ad or malware)
  • outright pirated software (you know photoshop costs right...)

Error installing Key Agent drivers in Windows 7

i reinstalled fresh bootcamp (windows 7 x64) on imac running yosemite. i'm having difficulty installing drivers, had first bypass issue x64bit drivers running through cmd admin errors "service 'key agent/mac hal' (keyagent/machaldrivers) failed start. verify have sufficient privileges start system services." have tried following instructions seemed answer this: i had exact same problem, on 17" mbp. in case, win7 event manager reported bootcamp 3.2 services failed install, in particular keyagent service (and without no apple keyboard , functions , apparently bootcamp icon doesn't show in system tray). event manager said bootcamp installer did not have sufficient permissions, went dial down user account control (uac) settings (in fact, turned off). should have seen when bootcamp 3.2 update running window ask permission continue (allow software install). instead, there silent failure. ok, turning off uac gives p
