Just bought the wife a retina iMac

my wife's passion photography. has older mac pro . several months ago upgraded nmp turn upgrade.
unbeknownst her, bought semi-loaded retina imac (i7, 1tb ssd,32gb, standard graphics card). not video.
did right thing ?
whats best external storage short of promise tb2 raid ?
 

if budget restricts standard video card, suggest upgrading instead of ram. can save @ least $200 ordering third-party ram upgrade. although in fact 16gb ram more enough other serious use of virtual machines.

if cancel , reorder 8gb ram , upgraded video (if happy install own ram), or 16gb , upgraded video (if rather order oem ram), or 32gb , upgraded video (if don't have budget restriction , can stomach $).

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
