Reminders / Task Tracking for Seniors . . .

my 81 year old mom has gotten forgetful.

i'm looking creative solution leverage ipad remind (and track compliance) particular tasks (like taking medication / drinking more water, etc.)

great if repeat-beep remind complete task, , allow record it's done. ideally, i'd love able check status via website or app.

medications, got web enabled pill box organizer integrated medical alert device: http://www.medminder.com/ works great! texts me if missed dose, , records compliance statistics.

there nice proprietary , expensive solution senior optimized tablets: http://www.clariscompanion.com/ . however, don't want expensive monthly fee, or locked email address , hardware.

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
