at&t warning consumers data breach involving insider illegally accessed personal information of unspecified number of users. compromised data includes social security numbers , drivers license numbers. in letter sent vermont attorney general, at&t officials said breach occurred in august , employee in question able access account information at&t customers. we determined 1 of our employees violated our strict privacy , security guidelines accessing account without authorization in august 2014, , while doing so, have been able view , may have obtained account information including social security number , drivers license number. additionally, while accessing account, employee have been able view customer proprietary network information (cpni), without proper authorization, said michael a. chiarmonte, director of finance billing operations @ at&t, in letter vermont ag. cpni referred in letter includes data thats related services consumers buy company. chiarmonte said letter employee responsible breach no longer works at&t. its not clear at&ts disclosure how many consumers have been affected breach or other states may have citizens affected. as result of breach, at&t offering affected customers year of free credit monitoring, has become customary in these incidents. company recommending customers change passwords on accounts. on behalf of at&t, please accept sincere apology incident, chiarmonte said in letter.

thank passing info along. hope husband , haven't been affected. i'll ask him later if got correspondence at&t this. jeez, on top of preorder snafu of calling at&t preorder purgatory , fact can't of signal inside house, not loving at&t right now. usually, though, customer service has been decent, i'll give them @ least much.
