Why so many distraction-free writing tools?

i noticed there trend distraction-free writing software. there lots of software calling aimed @ distraction-free writing, few features. lack of features considered feature itself.

features distract writers , make them lose focus. so, these software supposedly better because allow writers keep focus on matters (writing) without being distracted features.

list of software long, here few:

list long , growing. meanwhile, there few word processors have full set of features. have microsoft word; apple pages (not lacks features); mellel; nisus writer pro; , libreoffice/openoffice writer.

seems me developers have released lots of distraction-free writing tools because these apps easier develop , not take time or effort, more because believe these apps better tools writing. have seen no new full-featured word processor lately , it's disappointing.

feel me? these distraction-free word processors may useful nonsense lots of people? don't distracted features of word processor. there lots of things distract me – web – , it's not lack of features me. on other hand: features useful , me text written.

 

distraction-free not bloat. it's problem have think much... want bold text, have select stuff, hit command or use mouse , press key. if use markdown, can use 2 **'s surrounding text. or need make blockquote, how do again in word? can > on each line in markdown too.

gets more complicated on ios because have select text fingers , hit correct buttons. markdown, use keyboard, , whatever shortcuts app might have use make don't have type codes things links , images.

can tweak markdown output differently. fountain based on it, , lets write screenplay, , formatting you. instead of doing crazy simples in markdown, understands how typical screenplay looks, , how dialogue , scenes done, , takes cues headings.

there lots of word processors out there, have same issues pixelmator suffers from. lot of people have used word years, , don't want deal subscriptions now, , there's lot of push developers make editor competition word directly. people want pixelmator photoshop. developers understand people don't want word replacement, want these other apps word.
