Media Hub: Windows PC??

hi all,

had similar post 1 deleted apple support forums without explanation, can't log in account now, not sure going on!

anyway, looking set central media hub (all itunes content - music, video, apps etc.) can control via macbook pro , iphone/ipad using home sharing and/or airplay. have apple tv, zeppelin air , airport express.

lots of people's solution seems mac mini, though why can't use old windows pc , buy storage? can control via home sharing macbook, allowing me send video apple tv , audio zeppelin. equally can use apple remote iphone , ipad again send video , audio apple tv , zeppelin respectively.

question this: there reason change mac mini? there benefits not thinking of? bear in mind, won't use if other media. sit on tv stand.

i use asus revo 3700 atom processor itunes server. that's can handle, i've had running on 3 years, think, , many versions of itunes have come out in time frame. if works, go it!

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
