Help! SSD Upgrade for Late 2009 27" iMac Questions

i bought crucial m550 256gb ssd amazon had on sale $90 last week upgrade imac. i've been meaning while, , have been searching , reading threads , guides haven't quite pieced everything. seem answer different , haven't found guide comprehensively includes installation cloning.

have 11,1 quad core i5 2.66. according research optical drive , hdd both sata 2 3 gb/s, want put ssd in optical drive , keep 1tb because has firmware , temp sensor , both spots same speed. in terms of installing ssd found similar guide , have use caddy ssd, , can place temp sensor optical drive onto ssd?

confused copying on applications , os ssd. can install first , once installed use carbon copy move over, , select ssd boot drive , delete os secondary 1tb hdd?

or want clone on os prior installing it?

i recommend clone on os, don't know this. make sure, make thread on apple.
