Upgrade from Mavericks to Yosemite

hi,

purchased mbp in 2008 , till never missed os upgrade not had issues. notice following upgrade yosemite, system boot time has increased drastically extent had revert mavericks in under 2 days. in addition, system response slow well.

can please advise can workaround slowness experienced? machine not optimized running yosemite? or bluetooth card comes causing issue?

i've max'ed out mbp (during purchase direct apple) @ 4 gig ram , 256 gig hdd. other problem have fans running @ full speed (this problem surfaced following having motherboard , few other items replaced on 55th day of purchase).

please advise.
 

reset both smc , pram after installing yosemite. should address delays in boot or shut down. had same issue on late 2013 rmbp , fixed issue.

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
