Yosemite & MBP 13 (Mid-2012)

hello everyone.
have read threads yosemite' performance.

have macbook pro 13", mid-2012, 2,5 ghz intel core i5, 4 gb ram & intel hd4000.

since updating yosemite, notice entire performance slow, specially safari & mail. safari lags absolutely annoying, freezing apps. same happens mail.

though, initially, lag happened because of caches, spotlight, etc. , hoping better day day. can't seem experience less lag before.

working spss, microsoft word, pdf's open & safari... mission impossible.

worth upgrade ram? never though that, because never felt need it.

happening other people, too?

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
