OWC's Mercury Accelsior_E2 PCI Express Solid State Drive in MP5,1


i spoke owc , come interesting piece of advice locating owc's 480gb ssd pcie card slot 1 in mp5,1.

use ssd exclusively hold mac os x mavericks 10.9.5 @ time.

advice remove pcie ssd card slot 3, move nvidia k5000 graphics card occupy slot 2 & 3 , place pcie ssd card slot 1. owc indicated they'v given advice other customers have reported issues in mps using mercury accelsior_e2 pcie ssd cards. issue was/is every owc's ssd card becomes unusable , causes system panic @ boot time, , resolution erase , reformat ssd card , reinitialize mac os x mavericks.

in manner, ssd in x16-lane pcie2 slot , graphics card slots 1 & 2 both x16-lanes. current configuration k5000 card covering slot 2 x16-lane , forcing pcie ssd card go x4-lane slot.

owc pcie ssd 2-blade hardware raid-0 6g card, meaning can push 2x 6g or 1500 mbytes/sec. pcie2 x4-lane supports 2000 mbytes/sec , x16-lane supports 8000 mbytes/sec. in theory both x4-lane , x16-lane pcie2 slots should enough owc's pcie2 ssd card. however, x16-lane slot has more 'horsepower'. i'll give try.

i'm curious know if others using owc's pcie ssd card have used slot 1 in mp4,1/5,1 , found work , perform or better in slot 3 ?

have owc 480gb accelsior e2 in 2009 4.1 flashed 5.1

in slot 4 , has been there many months. no issue @ all

have gtx970 in slot one, double width card not cover slot 2 (as slot 1 in mp4.1 & 5.1 double width slot anyway). slot 2 still usable if want to

advised there no performance bonus having owc in slot 1 or 2, , speed test have shown correct.
