i'm debating whether worth proactively upgrading ssd, or reserve when future hd failure occurs.
acquired 2 17" imac refurbs, educational model, aka late 2006 cd, a1195, emc2124 or "5,2". anyway, since upgrading 1 gb 2 gb of ram 1 happier, boots faster, programs load faster. i'm thinking next upgrade may not have roi , wanted see others thought, fellow model owners , may have in fact done upgrade. going purchase 240gb ssd, whatever on sale next ~$100. computer being is, , having sata interface. i'm thinking idea may fine when hard drive dies, isn't worth now.
use case these computers senior citizen parents, in hopes can become osx knowledgable, , 7 yo daughter learn , have own computer. basically, they'll web browsers.
sharing thoughts.
late 2006 c2d model, have 20" 2.33ghz. nice machine. little slow load web pages, otherwise runs great! i'd recommend ssd, it'll speed things considerably, price. easy upgrade too.
