Quad-Core 2012 Mac Mini Mysteriously Reappears on Apple's U.S. Online Store [Updated]

apple today has mysteriously added 2012 model mac mini apple online store $699. on two-year-old machine still has same hardware specifications did in 2012, including 2.3ghz quad-core intel core i7 processor, 4gb of ram , intel hd graphics 4000. listing shows computer ships os x mavericks installed.

it unknown if outdated mac mini has mistakenly resurfaced on apple online store, or if apple intentionally reintroduced model on website. 1 plausible reason apple may making older mac mini available purchase again provide customers quad-core option, existing 2014 models each powered dual-core intel core i5 processors.

entry-level mac listed out of stock in united states, , macrumors not find model listed sale elsewhere after spot checks of apple online store in canada, united kingdom, australia, japan , several other countries. apple still offers refurbished version of same 2012 mac mini $589 on website, although model out of stock.

update 11:30 pm pt: 2012 quad-core mac mini appears have disappeared apple online store time being. unclear if officially return or if appearance bug.

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
