Filename Character Length Limit...

is there limit number of characters in filename and, if yes:

1. limit in hfs format [i.e. macintosh hd:user:documents:...]?

2. limit in posix format [i.e. ~/users/documents/...]?

3. better / preferred in terms of ability transfer file between devices files not missed [i.e. not copied / not moved] because filename length long?

in advance,

joel

searching google, came 255 characters bot hfs+ posix file formats.

i'd best 1 native file format os x, hfs+ better osx.
