What's wrong with my MBA?

hello,

i'm trying log mba, , i'm getting stymied.

here's situation:

1. computer isn't "chiming" when boot up.

2. when try log computer's admin account, computer accepts password, works few seconds, cursor turns "beach ball" , nothing happens afterward.

3. symptom "backlight" illuminates keyboard not functioning well.

according everymac.com, computer apple macbook air "core i5" 1.6 11" (mid-2011)

am, however, able log computer's safari-only "guest" account, i'm posting from.

can me problem?

boot internet recovery mode , run disk utility check errors. try resetting nvram or smc suspect hardware issues. take apple store , let them run tests.

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
