Reset factory settings - how???

probably basic enquiry solution escaping me.

have 2011 27" imac running incredibly slowly.

have time capsule attached backing should.

want restore imac factory settings , put on photos , documents want.

tried while think put old material on.

can patience please step me through process.

secondly, when did attempt @ factory reset last time found lost word, excel , powerpoint. have them now. advice on how retain these too.

did office applications download or cd/dvd?

restore factory settings restart computer , hold command r launch internet recovery.

click disk utility

, click macintosh hd , select erase

close out of disk utility , select install os x

let restore process take place...you can set-up new account , when logged os x can browse time machine back-ups , restore photos , wanted documents, click time machine icon , select browse other back-ups.

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
