Ensuring my data will be wiped out safely

an imac running yosemite sold , want wipe out personal, without formatting system drive or reinstalling os. far personal stuff, following have been done on imac.
1. there few applications installed
2. email account has been set in mail
3. lot of browsing safari
4. file use, there external usb3 hard drive connected, nothing written on system drive, other apps installed!

apart listed "personal" stuff above, there others must wiped out have not thought of?
 

encrypt erase volume

not specific yosemite:
  1. enable filevault 2
  2. allow conversion complete
  3. erase , install.

os x: how erase , install – apple support

there various other methods. method above allow erase volume when time comes sell.

should erase voume. it's simplest.

(without knowing great amount of detail additional applications installed, how installed, , on, it's impossible should selectively remove.)

Is this battery use normal

i have 2014 11-inch haswell macbook air i5 1.4 / 8 gb / 128 gb. had since october, 3rd mba. clean install of yosemite. virtually no apps installed. no flash. if have bluetooth off , brightness 2/3 might scrap 6 hours of battery use. not using the web. i'm typically using nisus or basic text editor (bbedit) browsing web, on text based sites, no flash, adblock on, 5 or 6 tabs 4.5 hours. watching film 2.5 hours. if leave computer on nothing open, , go sleep disabled, lasts 7 hours. it's not yosemite. getting same on mavericks. know people 12 hours or on 11-inch haswell wifi off, , writing on text editor. took apple shop, nothing showed on battery test, did clean install in case of runaway process (ironically, have runaway process giving me 2 hours battery life total, that's on thread)   there many factors impact battery life. see battery life charge se...
