How to setup my media library?

i've got mac mini 4gb thunderbolt drive.
want leave on 24/7 , use main itunes repository , use streaming apple tv , use plex streaming ipads/iphones.
pretty sure that's pretty straight forward.
set location of itunes media library thunderbolt drive , tell keep library organized. media stays on thunderbolt drive , none of stays on mac mini itself.
meanwhile install plex server , tell monitor same thunderbolt drive.
part i'm not sure want have itunes on macbook , want use same thunderbolt drive media.
again media on thunderbolt drive , none on macbook.
possible?

want can sync media macbook iphone/ipad.
nas mounting nas on macbook.

can share same thunderbolt drive mini , mount on macbook or run problems since itunes running 24/7 on mini?
don't use playlists , don't care play counts.

home sharing out (i think) because let me copy thunderbolt macbook isn't want.

tips?
 

home sharing allows playback directly itunes server. don't have copy files macbook. use homesharing our media server time playback music our macbooks.

MacBook refuses to start day after Yosemite

hello all, , thank reading problem. have old 2008 macbook. ran fine, no problems, thing tank. use phd dissertation. last week installed yosemite on it, , starts fine first boot up, work done , go sleep. typical night (other putting new os on). next morning, won't start. @ all. when power button pressed lights second, optical drive makes bzzzt (typical start noise) fans start second , heard hard disk , shuts down. nothing screen @ all. if hold down button, lasts 4 seconds before front light blinks , computer goes dead again. i've tried various combinations battery or ac power, used hotkeys (pram reset, assuming on long enough register), , waited several days battery go down bit. nothing, refuses start , have no idea why. nothing has happened it, no drops, no water, no nothing @ between time working fine, , next day not work. charge light , battery both green , no problem there. took out , reinserted memory in case well. ...
