Family Sharing vs Separate Apple IDs

getting kids (7 & 9) ipod touches christmas year.

debating whether setup them under family sharing vs creating own apple ids icloud , having apple id store.

seems me family sharing kids under 13:

- locks child in family (you can move them family)
- app request belongs them
- can't share in app purchases

setup apple id without family sharing, i'd have set , set birthdate of @ least 13. , can create apple id online without needing credit card correct? use web site create it?

have thoughts? way better?

think biggest issue in-app purchases. if both want same "free" game, , need buy in-app purchases.....with family sharing i'm buying twice.

i think i've convinced myself setup own apple ids 13 year olds , use apple id store. way still purchased me.

btw how wife's phone setup, own apple id icloud , mine store.

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
