New Iphone, junk free ?

i got new iphone 6, upgraded worn down 4s. have set , i've realized there lot of junk have in old phone don't want in new one. set new iphone
little junk old 1 possible , have questions. first let me describe current situation:

-my old iphone synced windows pc have itunes music library , phone saved.

-i use mbp main computer , have decided want sync new iphone 6 mbp. i'm aware have transfer music 1 pc other not issue since can use chance clean music library songs dont want anymore etc.

-my iphone 4s backup saved on windows pc i'm not interested in transferring app data, there 2 things care about:

1. whatsapp conversations & groups. if delete whatsapp 4s, instal on 6 , activate sim card on 6 still in same whatsapp groups or kicked out somehow?

2. contacts: there contacts want transfer old phone new one, there way selectively ?

best way this?

work??: delete dont want on 4s (including music photos,apps, contact, etc), new backup, save backup on memory stick, connect memory stick mbp, connect iphone 6, , instal backup on new 6.

simple? or there way new iphone 6 working without getting junk form old 1 ?

honestly, i'd set new phone , start on clean slate.
