Advice on buying a used Mac Pro

until today had been intent on buying used mp 8 or 12 core 4,1, or 5,1. however, more or less out of curiosity, looked @ cost of 4 & 6 core 4,1 & 5,1 , of 3,1 , older mps of sorts.

looked through older threads on topic, not find information needed.

rather amazed @ price jump between 8-12 core models , older and/or have fewer cores. while can afford 8-12 core 4,1 or 5,1 have finite resources. if can need $400 mp see no reason spend $1400 on 1 capabilities not use.

whatever model purchase used light photo & video editing, small bit of audio production, usual word processing, web surfing, , light gaming (mostly older , less performance intense titles such europa universalis iv , il-2 sturmovik: cliffs of dover).

intend on running boot camp, use software either available windows or less costly pc (e.g. games).

have looked @ benchmarks, , can see difference between more expensive , more powerful models , cheaper less powerful models. however, numbers. know is, based on forums collective real world experiences:

notice significant difference when performing tasks listed if purchase older or less powerful model ?

also, model(s) best needs (e.g. 2009 4 or 6 core 4,1 better purchase 2008 8 core 3,1)?

for needs looks should imac.
