is there hdd test/scan can use on machine check see if case?
 

you can open disk utility , check s.m.a.r.t status. tell if it's failing or not.

diskwarrior can repair corrupt os installs, can tell via hardware test if drive failing well.

there other s.m.a.r.t tools out there well. smartreporter 2.7.3 last free version , smart utility (not free) can give in depth information drive.
