do guys partition hard drive easier reinstalls? read posts partitioning hard drive on yosemite got more tricky before. anyway using disk utility can see able split 2 partitions, not more. why not? 2 partitions need, if down road decide want partition linux or bootcamp? , able merge 2 partitions 1 if want to? moreover, want /users folder set onto second partition. found different tutorials accomplish. 1 of them pretty straightforward http://computers.tutsplus.com/tutor...-folder-to-another-drive-or-volume--mac-48822 other tutorials claim editing /etc/fstab needed. think many mac users, besides me, have several volumes convenience. how guys accomplish things that?   you not able manipulate partition on drive @ point because yosemite install converted drive core storage. if want manipulate partitions, need run off core storage running command below in terminal. disconnect other drives

i heard friend (who i'm using t-mobile new set of iphones 5s) saw significant charge on recent cell bill due facetime usage. haven't seen bill, has me entirely confused. far understand, facetime uses data, period. if it's wifi, has nothing carriers. if it's on cellular network, carriers disable entirely (at least in past--can anymore?), if it's enabled, facetime data same other data. long don't go on data limit or incur roaming charges, should cost nothing. , since t-mobile doesn't have overage charges, throttle, should impossible rack charges unless have data roaming turned on , roaming when using it. wrong this? there fine print i've never heard of? know i've used facetime video on t-mobile's network own iphone , charge i've ever had when accidentally made international phone call in canada without recognizing area code non-us. i'm going ask see bill can figure out what's up.  

hello! have number of issues apple tv 3, using mbpr 15" (late 2013) , iphone 6. first , foremost, i've been using apple tv exclusively in order stream music speakers computer or smartphone using airplay. apple tv has been connected through either ethernet or wifi, no difference there. problems follows: 1) when streaming sound (any source) macbook apple tv through airplay, sound tends choppy , laggy, @ irregular intervals. not occur when streaming iphone. 2) [solved] when connecting monitor using hdmi while still leaving speakers connected through optical output, sound quality (any source) goes down '95s laptop quality. unplug hdmi , recovers. 3) apple remote no longer allow me change song using arrow keys, instead hear sound of browsing through menu. 4) apple tv goes in sleep mode while streaming, @ seemingly random occasions. i've tried enlightening myself through google, little luck. these issues have been th

my brother lent me macbook air (first edition.) awesome until hdd started clicking , things stopped responding. never should have emptied trash bin, guess. anyway, purchased new ssd on ebay , hooked following youtube video. amazing. i'm trying install os. turning on system shows me windows drive, running says ntldr has error. i'm guessing means found ssd. attached external dvd , put operating disk 1 inside. icon shows on screen, clicking makes whir after short wait turn off. looked online , saw required internet connection. okay. so, connected wifi , tried install again. whistles , whirs (well, doesn't whistle) , chugs away. chose reformat ssd osx. gives me error telling me install failed. there way verify ssd working well? correct way install os?   problem disk not partitioned guid. misunderstood first time around.   Foru

hi - well, after two-plus years of happy mbp retina ownership, find myself display functioning poorly laptop literally impossible use unless hooked external monitor (which isn't feasible me 99% of time). i've been doing homework since went out , know whole samsung vs. lg display issue, general problems screens having strange hues, fuzzy lines, , ghosting. reasonably sure own problem specific display part, since computer works if hooked monitor via hdmi port (and none of laptop screen issues mirrored onto it). have first-gen 13" mbr retina debuted in mid-late 2012, , gather copious posts online both , 15" big brother pre-2013 models infamous having various display problems. although searched threads on specific topic, didn't find any. mac didn't sustain sudden fall or damage; screen started going on fritz week ago, , got worse , worse days passed. so goal see difference in speed through new kanex tbolt ethernet + usb 3.0 adapter on usb-speed-deprived 2011 2.7 i5 imac. no surprise read & write speeds have improved considerably, going 2.0 3.0 on same external hd (sp armor 30, 1 tb 5400 rpm). example, using black magic speed test, see approximately 3x speed change. speed through adapter same if hd connected directly or through powered hub (12v 2a anker ah111). thing noticed bit strange ~25% difference in speed running 2.0 usb (i.e., not through kanex) directly vs. through hub. easier see through numbers. these numbers pretty consistent no matter how many times run test. i'm not paying attention actual mb/s speeds don't know how accurate blackmagic app is, more relative speeds, i.e., percentage difference. usb2, directly mac - ~31 write/~37 read usb2, through hub - ~24 write/~30 read usb3, directly mac - ~100 write/~108 read usb3, through hub - ~104 write/~107 read
