hi all,

got macbook pro mid 2012 model.

other day refused boot up, temperature under battery increased quite rapidly point couldn't bear heat , froze on grey screen ten minutes before displaying prohibited sign.

bought on educational package under assumption covered 3 years, incidentally sales person had advised me of when purchased.

ring apple , through tells me isn't under warranty.

well, i'm not idiot on king of thing tried fix it.

went disk utilities , tested ok.

tried booting in safe mode mid way through command line information froze , black background went white , corrupted.

@ point i'm thinking maybe graphics card here.

next step boot off external drive , well. perhaps not graphics after all.

time take old hard drive out , try installing ssd. worked perfection. no issues, appears , machine bit of speed demon.

old hdd went enclosure , dragged data onto ssd.

@ point call apple. apologising not getting extended warranty part of student package , asking if bring macbook store see can feel owe me gesture.

i've got genius appointment i'm wondering can now.

in advance i've put original hdd in , reinstalled everything, working quite nicely i'm bit suspicious of it's longevity now.

i'm in position i'd rather didn't swap macbook out (would option) i've put 16gb in , can't find stock 4gb.

i've got working macbook, unless there internal temperature log it's not issue can duplicated in store , know there wasn't obvious damage inside.

know genius position , on table here?
