antivirus to scan a thumb drive

i have late 2009 imac mountain lion. have downloaded both sophos , clamxav, can't find way use either scan thumb drive. possible either of these, or other recommended av? perhaps i'm missing something.
 

i don't recommend using sophos, can use clamxav scan. this should show how enable scanning of drive attach. after you've performed scan, recommend disable sentry feature, can consume system resources, , constant scanning not needed os x.

macs not immune malware, no true viruses exist in wild can run on mac os x, , there never have been since released on 12 years ago. malware in wild can affect mac os x handful of trojans, can avoided practicing safe computing (see below). 3rd party antivirus apps not necessary keep mac malware-free, long user practices safe computing, described in following link.

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
