New 2014 mini or stick to my old 2007 2GHz Core 2 Duo

i need little persuasion. want upgrade since i'm outside of standard upgrade cycle.....

have 2007 mini 2ghz core 2 duo 2gb ram 1tb hd. running 10.7

little machine has lasted 7 years general purpose desktop. no real heavy lifting email, internet & itunes box. iphoto has started drag bit , know os x 10 won't make cut. question is, if upgraded maxed out 2014 i7, going make 5+ years upgrade?

clock has run out of time years ago 2007 mini. i'm not overly impressed 2014 line up. if did upgrade, upgrading upgrade fulfill tech itch, or solid upgrade. know benifets , negatives, i'm not excited hoping mini 2014 line up.

have advise? looking push clear indecisiveness.

have considered putting ssd in 2007 model?
think might lowbudget patch-up upgrade.

2014 model think overkill. if i'd on lookout 2011 i5 model since not in demand 2012 version. sure loose usb 3.0 ports gain sata iii compared 2010 model , before it. @ least in sweden 2011 models around same price 2010 version.
