First MacBook Pro - applecare/John Lewis added care - parallels question - UK


i looking buy macbook pro 13" retina display. first mac computer.
john lewis offering added care package £130 compared applecare's £199. jl insurance says covers accidental damage. prefer go jl insurance cheaper , ac doesn't cover accidental damage. worry if stuck on mac have no experience in dealing problems screwed , regret not going ac. reading many horror stories of macbooks breaking down left, right , centre , @ such high price can't afford not know i'm doing. should ac? good? should jl added care? good?
i'm looking install parallels software onto macbook pro program need install work work in windows. hearing people having lot of trouble using software. hard working properly?
know how work things , round technological issues first mac product , these questions worrying me.
appreciated.
(i in uk btw, ac users in usa might not have accurate views of uk service, no matter how in usa)
