Resolved Steam icon turns generic today

what mean when application icon turns generic , fails launch when clicked on??

how can fix short of reinstalling steam? i've restarted mac check see if fixed it, no.
 

so, found others had reported same issue on gearbox forums in late october, , seems problem stems latest steam update.

here's fix me might work you:


go finder, , find steam app in mac's applications folder.

there, select it, duplicate it, , delete original. after duplicate generic app icon, may display circle diagonal line through it. seems normal, , didn't prevent me doing wanted do.

when delete old app, you'll see pop warning you're delete steam apps , want them?

click open folder. will, close window. in applications folder, once generic steam app should have blue round know. launch , enjoy.

Is this battery use normal

i have 2014 11-inch haswell macbook air i5 1.4 / 8 gb / 128 gb. had since october, 3rd mba. clean install of yosemite. virtually no apps installed. no flash. if have bluetooth off , brightness 2/3 might scrap 6 hours of battery use. not using the web. i'm typically using nisus or basic text editor (bbedit) browsing web, on text based sites, no flash, adblock on, 5 or 6 tabs 4.5 hours. watching film 2.5 hours. if leave computer on nothing open, , go sleep disabled, lasts 7 hours. it's not yosemite. getting same on mavericks. know people 12 hours or on 11-inch haswell wifi off, , writing on text editor. took apple shop, nothing showed on battery test, did clean install in case of runaway process (ironically, have runaway process giving me 2 hours battery life total, that's on thread)   there many factors impact battery life. see battery life charge se...
