HELP..Bought a 2010 Macbook Pro it needs a new processor

so old macbook died , cant afford brand new 1 bought second hand 2010 macbook pro. seemed fine when went @ seemed need upgrade in operating system because of missing updates , plugins when tried download yosemite got unable complete message because processor "core duo" , not "core 2 duo" there way upgrade or operating system can upgrade newer 10.6 have necessary plug ins , updates...i tried regular software update current operating system tells me there no updates available @ time...really hope didnt ripped off :( appreciated.

New 2014 Mac Mini as living room media unit... general questions :)

hi everyone, relatively new apple world (came on android/windows) can impressed , happy made switch hoping insight experts here new setup. got new 2014 mini our living room media unit (will playing music, netflix, movies, internet browsing etc) - havent hooked yet. have 2 bookshelf speakers, 1 sub woofer, , center speaker sound setup goes avr, , of course flat screen tv. 1) question -- mini support 2.1 sound via hdmi avr? losing audio quality or audio features using mac mini? 2) internet browsing, there app or interface make ui better fit living room tv? i've read font/icons can hard read if enlarge them because mac mini not meant big tv? 3) plan plex server , plex media player mac mini, other loading movie/tv collection , playing off tv, there else cool missing here can this? 4) if have mac mini media unit, there purpose in owning roku @ point? thank you!!   ...
