hello,
purchase document scanner rid house of masses of accumulated "junk/clutter" "someday" might find useful.
have been reading , names keep coming fujitsu scansnap ix500, doxie go , neatdesk.
purposes, automatic sheet fed(so don't have sit there , baby sit... realistic?)
-i macbook air(can in bedroom or on couch), opposed our imac (up in office, ugh)
-i running osx10.10 yosemite
-i have 2 external hard drives (1 1tb 1 2tb) use photo storage , photo storage backups (kinda freak pictures) have plenty of space left
-it lots of receipts, old college papers, old work files, recipes, magazine articles, etc.
recommendations, suggestions appreciated.
thanks~~holly
i have smaller scansnap (the 1300), , happy it. considered better model (s1500... predecessor ix500), preferred smaller footprint of 1300, , because projected regular scanning volume (after initial scanning of hundreds of existing documents) modest, decided against spending money higher capacity/volume model.
there is, however, 1 feature have liked... s1500 (and ix500) have ultrasonic double-feed detection. s1300 relies on document length detect double-feeds (if 11" long sheet catches next sheet partway through scan, combined longer length of these 2 sheets alert scanner double-feed had occurred). not foolproof, however... if 2 sheets feed @ same time (such if couple of sheets had stapled together, holes left behind cause first sheet snag second sheet) , directly stacked feed through, length detection feature not see double-feed. ultrasonic detection presumably not fooled this.
workaround ensure no pages missed double-feeds count sheets scanning ensure reported number of scanned sheets matches. me, no big deal because scan dozen or documents week. if scan more on regular basis, and/or don't want have worry double-feeds during initial scanning of old documents, go better model!
