Please help with process for upgrading RAM and SSD

i have mid-2012 mbp 13". has slowed down dramatically frequent beachballing , purchased new ram , crucial mx100 ssd prolong useful life few years. trying strategize best way go replacing these components.

ssd, not doing double hd configuration, swapping out old hd ssd. have want keep backed up, , want clean install of osx on ssd rather clone in case have accumulated software/third party issues causing slowness experiencing. so, first question is: how go formatting ssd , having ready accept osx boot usb?

second question is: should replace hd first , ssd , running before replacing ram, or should put ram existing configuration , hd swap second?

time!

  1. buy external enclosure , put old drive in it.
  2. install new drive in mac.
  3. boot old (external) drive holding option key on startup.
  4. prepare new drive formatting hfs+ using disk utility
  5. use carbon copy cloner clone old (external) drive new (internal) drive.
  6. boot new internal drive.
  7. your running on new internal drive , old drive external drive, useful backups or additional storage.
some have encountered problems cloning internal external, swapping them, why recommend swap them first, clone external new internal. more info on this: can't boot cloned external ssd
it makes no difference order follow.
