Looking at refurb MBP, anyone have trouble living inside 512GB?

i'm looking replace 2009 imac 2tb drive in it. looking @ apple refurbs, i'm impressed ~$2000 rmbp has 512gb ssd on it. now, imac still stay @ home , server apple tv + local photos, i'm wondering how difficult transition 512gb drive.

given itunes in cloud let me access purchased movies , music without local storage, , of next year icloud photo library allow me access photos , home movies without eating storage, i'm cautiously thinking might able it. external drive if need to, i'm no fan of carrying things around me.

also, correct in thinking use 2009 imac (which has mini display port not thunderbolt) in target display mode external monitor rmbp?

all!

i've carried 2011 mba 256gb drive 3 , half years. i, have had imac @ home acting "server" media content, movies i've ripped.

battled space issues time time on mba, few months ago updated aftermarket 512gb ssd. between that, , advances in cloud services near filling 512. of course, ymmv. 1 thing consider that, while memory cannot upgraded in rmbp, can upgrade drive later on if find running low on space. , ssds getting cheaper time.

far target display mode concerned, hate break bad news you, in order td mode on thunderbolt enabled device of devices concerned have thunderbolt. can't mix mini dvi or mini dp thunderbolt.
