External drive to network drive? (Or other option)

i used have imac, purchased wd passport ultra 500 gb portable external usb 3.0 hard drive use time machine backup imac. worked well, happy.

since purchased macbook air. since move around, no longer have external drive connected @ times. connect once every 2 or 3 days.

there easy , inexpensive way connect external drive network time machine can make backs @ time without needing plug usb drive laptop?
 

does network include airport extreme? if can connect usb drive there, local , network tm backups use different fill formats think, need chose 1 or other method.

Is this battery use normal

i have 2014 11-inch haswell macbook air i5 1.4 / 8 gb / 128 gb. had since october, 3rd mba. clean install of yosemite. virtually no apps installed. no flash. if have bluetooth off , brightness 2/3 might scrap 6 hours of battery use. not using the web. i'm typically using nisus or basic text editor (bbedit) browsing web, on text based sites, no flash, adblock on, 5 or 6 tabs 4.5 hours. watching film 2.5 hours. if leave computer on nothing open, , go sleep disabled, lasts 7 hours. it's not yosemite. getting same on mavericks. know people 12 hours or on 11-inch haswell wifi off, , writing on text editor. took apple shop, nothing showed on battery test, did clean install in case of runaway process (ironically, have runaway process giving me 2 hours battery life total, that's on thread)   there many factors impact battery life. see battery life charge se...
